Guitars & Electronics

HypogeumGSO also boasts a fully functional luthier and electronics repair shop. Located in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina’s Southside, we serve customers from Asheville to Wilmington and everywhere in between. Impeccable face-to-face service combined with over 25 years of professional experience and quick, reliable turn-around times make us your go-to shop for guitar repair and customization. Call ahead or email to make an appointment, and we'll have a detailed conversation about your maintenance and repair needs. We also offer:

  • Emergency and onsite repairs

  • Custom Guitars: We build dream guitars for players—at a price that won't break your piggy bank.

  • Recycled/ “Frankensteined” Vintage
One of our favorite things to do is to take old kitschy guitars and make them sound and play as good as they look. We also like to take things that were never intended to go together and make something unusual and unrepeatable. Imagine a 1940’s Gibson LG1 acoustic neck that lost its body. And a hollow Vox Teardrop body that lost its neck. Put together and topped off with Nashville tuning guitar strings, and you have an irreverent guitar that no one else has ever had. And we got to have fun and be a little green while making it come alive!

  • Restoration
We really love old guitars. And we love getting them back to a state where they look and play like they did 30, 40, 50, 60+ years ago. We’ll help you find a way to make your old guitar new again.

  • Education
We hold one-on-one and group classes on guitar maintenance and setup. We also teach classes like guitar physics for those who want to geek out!
